Job Summary:

The Hemp House Quality Assurance Compliance Lead will be responsible for the coordination of work to ensure the successful implementation of GFSI standard quality management system in pursuance of regulatory compliance and achievement of business goals. The QA Compliance Lead will work closely with production, maintenance, facilities and shipping teams to ensure that quality standards are established, implemented and maintained throughout all manufacturing operations, including analytics and laboratory testing responsibilities.

Through the effective management of targets, goals and production efficiencies, the QA Compliance Lead will evaluate and improve quality inspection, monitoring, documentation and other in-house processes and will support the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of the quality assurance systems in strict compliance with state and federal regulations and aim towards GFSI certification.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

  • Develop, implement, and maintain GFSI standard quality systems within department to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as SQF Practitioner for the Hemp House facility, overseeing the program to ensure that the SQF system is implemented, maintained and all staff are properly trained.
  • Report on the performance of the SQF and HAACP metrics using analytics of production, performance and continuous improvements.
  • Develop, write, review and edit all SOPs for SQF implementation and maintenance as well as SOPs for general production daily procedures.
  • Creates, reviews and approves documents using the Document Control System, including issuing, reviewing, distributing and filing controlled documents.
  • Perform internal and vendor qualification inspections (external).
  • Perform internal audits to monitor GMP compliance and adherence to QC policies and procedures and communicate non-compliance and collaborate with respective departments on corrective actions.
  • Maintain verification schedule and primarily responsible for verification of batch record, sanitation records, analytical reports, and other QA and QC related records to ensure adherence to quality standards and policies. 
  • Document customer complaints, QA and QC issues, process deviations, and critical control point non-conformance in formal reports that include root cause analysis and corrective actions. Verify corrective actions are appropriate, are implemented as planned, and have the intended effectiveness.
  • Review and approval of product for sale.
  • Train as an operator in production laboratory duties.
  • Cleaning of work areas, common areas, and production equipment and utensils is expected of all employees.  The process requires all employees to be engaged in daily cleaning activities.

Minimum Qualification Standards:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3 + years of experience in a GFSI certified food safety scheme, preferably SQF in a manufacturing environment.
  • Highly desirable training and certifications would include:
    • HACCP (Juice HACCP or any Codex based HACCP)
    • ISO 9001 or ISO 22001
    • Produce Safety Rule – Grower training
    • Preventive Controls for Human Food Rule
    • SQF Implementation
    • PrimusGFS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities.
  • Must have excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Gmail proficiency required.
  • Must be process oriented with strong analytical skills and highly capable of multi-tasking, with minimal supervision.
  • Experience writing SOPs, work instructions, non-conformity reports, and/or other technical documents.
  • Some knowledge of cannabis extraction equipment preferred.

This position requires the regular use of a computer, printer, copier, fax machine, and telephone.

Computer Software: Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel. Gmail proficiency required.
