Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, this position will manage a team of floor Line Operators in all duties related to bottling/canning line operations, changeovers, and some corrective maintenance ensuring that all production goals and food safety scheme regulations are met on a daily basis.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned.)

  • Responsible for efficient running of fully automated canning and bottling line with multiple packaging formats in a custom co-packing facility
  • Ensure line operations are in adherence of OSHA safety standards, FDA/SQF/Organic food safety standards for consumer safety, and both internal and external quality standards
  • Expect to consistently meet production goals by keeping production on schedule regardless of the unforeseen issues that arise in the facility.
  • Effectively communicate across all departments (cider makers, warehouse, maintenance, operations)
  • Manage a team of ten or more with focus on strong leadership, problem solving, scheduling, conflict management and accountability
  • Open and/or close the facility on semi-regular basis
  • Knowledge and completion of line changeover procedures from different formats with efficiency and speed
  • Ability to work with maintenance department on preventative and general maintenance
  • Train line operators on all pieces of equipment and procedures
  • Integral part of SQF team and have extensive knowledge of SOPs, GMPs, etc.
  • Work with QA on ensuring all product specs, quality control checkpoints and food safety scheme regulations are met
  • Must work at least one weekend day
  • Certified to operate forklift/heavy machinery
  • Understand and adjust all equipment timing points and recognize and resolve improperly adjusted components.
  • Make production adjustments to all equipment as necessary and inspect for proper machine component performance.

Minimum Qualification Standards:

  • High School diploma preferred.
  • Distilling knowledge and/or experience preferred.
  • Two (2) years bottling/canning line experience preferred.
  • One (1) year experience working in line manufacturing preferred.
  • Two (2) years management experience preferred.
  • Mechanical knowledge of filling, labeling and capping machines preferred.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and work experience will be considered.
  • Proficient in Microsoft OfficeKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and details simultaneously.
  • Strong oral communication skills to interact with co-workers and manage employees in a professional and helpful manner.
  • Ability to work productively in a fast paced, stressful environment.

  • Microsoft Word and Excel, forklifts, pallet jacks, floor cleaning equipment, steam boilers, depalletizing equipment, filling equipment, tunnel pasteurizer, labeling equipment, packing equipment, and palletizing equipment.

• Light mental and visual attention to set up, regulate, or adjust simple machines or processes where there is some variety, but actions taken, and decisions made are limited to few possibilities. Work requires some coordination with others.
