This year’s competition drew 112 entries from across the state, according to Teresa Casey, executive director of the NY Distillers Guild. Judging took place July 10 and 11 at the Rochester Institute of Technology Inn and Convention Center in Henrietta.
New York is home to roughly 200 craft distillers, almost all of which have opened within the last ten years.
“Congratulations to all the distilleries that won awards in our fourth annual New York State Distilled Spirits Competition,” NY Distillers Guild president Brian Facquet said in a statement. Facquet, founder and distiller at Do Good Spirits in Roscoe,added, “The awards highlight the incredible quality and diversity of spirits produced all across the Empire State. It’s a testament to the grit of our distillers – almost all small business owners – that they were able to produce this caliber of spirits even during this pandemic year.”
Here are the winners in the 2021 competition’s “major” categories:
